The new e-commerce site produced by Smile

A multi specialist of public sector materials, Camif Collectivités selects, distributes and installs materials for public organisations and local authorities. Its offering is directed at the world of education and local authorities and administrations. Smile integrated the tool Magento Entreprise for Camif Collectivités. This tool has in built features that meet the requirements of an online store: product catalogue, multi-stores, promotions, baskets, customer accounts etc.
New version, new features
Redesigning an existing site, this new version offers Camif Collectivités and its users new features to simplify navigation, the choice of products and the purchasing process. Members and non members can browse the site and consult the catalogue. From the homepage, members can browse through product selections, add products to their baskets etc. The system communicates data ranging from quotes to Camif Collectivités internal ERP via web services. The member can then confirm their order via the site or by telephone.
Star product
Smile also developed the notion of a star product. This feature promotes selected products on the homepage. It is also possible to select 10 to 20 products to promote in selected product categories in order to plan promotions over time. By defining rules these products can automatically be selected.
Web TV
Smile also integrated web TV, grouping together video products and a news module, accessible from the left hand column of each page,
Integration of the internal ERP
The site is connected to Camif Collectivités' internal ERP system through different SOAP web services that enable the following information to be transferred:
- customers: the ERP enables customers to be identified,
- orders: are communicated to the ERP.
Smile also integrated the ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) Kettle for integrating new products. The ETL takes files supplied by the ERP, processes these files by updating its own product base and sends the simplified files to the merchant site in order to update the merchant site's product database. Contributors then fill in product details in Magento.
The Search Engine
The search engine Lucène from SolR was integrated for this site. One of the key characteristics of Lucène is its ability to index content by field or attribute. On www.camif-collectivites.fr
, it provides a detailed search by product category and searches of media content. The search engine is also connected to Camif Collectivités blog and displays search results. Lucène provides higher performance standards and excellent quality search.
Multi-site feature
Camif Collectivités also has a multi-site feature provided by Magento for creating special online stores for different brands. The various applications are accessible through the same back-office. There are now two sites: http://cce.camif-collectivites.fr
and http://vente-publique.camif-collectivites.fr
. Camif Collectivités can create new stores in 10 days. These stores are reserved for customers from the public sector who have a long term partnership with the company, customised e-commerce. Smile now works on site developments. Operational teams look after hosting and ensure the platform operates correctly.
