Talend
Talend Open Studio is an open source ETL developed by the french company Talend. It enables you to graphically create data manipulation and transformation processes and to then run them using Java or Perl.
Talend is the ETL primarily used by or embedded into the business intelligence solutions SpagoBI and JasperSoft. But Talend can be used for much more than just business intelligence projects. It can be used for the operational integration of data between diverse systems and applications. Talend uses a graphical drag/drop template for creating data manipulation processes. Many types of stages are available to connect to major databases and to handle different types of files (CSV, Excel, XML). Note that Talend facilitates the construction of queries in databases by detecting relationships between tables. It is also possible to simply add new features and components in order to carry out more complex processes.
Business model
With Talend you can create a Business Model in order to model interactions with different systems and databases. Connection information, metadata as well as documents can be linked to each element. The model therefore constitutes a true documentation of the information system.
Young but comprehensive
Talend Open Studio is a young but comprehensive product. The 2.0 version was released in April 2007 and provides important new features such as the generation of Java programs. Talend has created partnerships with many business intelligence or database publishing companies.
