Of Norwegian origin, eZ publish is a top of the range content management system (or CMS) .
Type of content
eZ publish is different from other open source CMS due to the configuration and scaleability options it offers: eZ publish creates new types of content online! By filling in just a few forms and making a few clicks, you can create content such as "Minutes of a meeting","News" or even a "Bibliography." The first type of content (the minutes) contains a title, the name of the project, the date, a list of participants and the body text. The second (news) contains only the title and a small amount of text. The third (bibliography) would be more complex. With eZ publish all this is possible meaning that content information finally makes sense. You have to measure how this seemingly simple feature may prove to be decisive in some contexts. It is the only way of pushing the basic principle of content management to its limits, that of separating content and presentation. In the absence of specific types of articles, all information is entered into the field for the "body of the article." However, as soon as we start creating the structure for the body of the article we begin to mix presentation with content. The disadvantages that we already know about with many CMS are: the inability to change the layout or attributes, inability to change presentation format etc. But that's not all, well structured content is also a way of promoting top quality information from the moment it is entered into the system: this field is a date, this field is required etc. It therefore differentiates the product from others and could prove to be a decision making feature. When required, eZ publish is the solution.

In terms of features, eZ publish includes configurable workflows, rights management and access control, a secure front-end, management of versions etc.
eZ publish's interface is very easy to access
One of the greatest strengths of eZ publish is that the administration interface is very easy to access for contributors despite a wealth of features.
Technical Environment
Technically, eZ publish is equally powerful. eZ publish is in PHP running on Apache and Mysql ( PostGreSql is supported), implements the webdav protocol, supports three different cache files, distinctly separates all your sites (data and templates) etc. eZ Publish runs on both Windows and Linux.
